Solution: Precast elevator shafts enable record-time construction for affordable housing
Speedy Elevator Shaft Installation for Sweeten Creek Affordable Housing
The Sweeten Creek apartment complex in Asheville, North Carolina, was designed with affordability in mind. Aligning with 30-80% of the area’s median income, the cost of rent establishes a new housing option for the average Asheville resident. The complex is comprised of three apartment buildings, 77 units, a clubhouse, and a mulched walking trail through the remaining wooded acres.
To construct this complex, project leaders specified County Prestress & Precast’s Elevator Shafts. The shafts were selected for their speed of construction.
Project Highlights
Four five-story County Prestress & Precast Elevator Shafts were installed at the Sweeten Creek apartment complex in under a week. The project’s hilltop location made for difficult access to the build site, and inclement weather with extremely high winds shut down construction for a few days, but our experienced team navigated these challenges and finished the installation in record time.
