Precast Elevator Shafts Accelerate Construction Schedule for Florida Mixed-Use Development
Located in a vibrant beach town in Florida’s Panhandle, the Saltaire apartment complex offers pet-friendly apartments just minutes from the ocean. The community includes 88 studio apartments and a mix of larger homes. Residents have access to a resort-style pool, convenience store, and 24/7 gym.
The $123.9 million mixed-use development includes 256 apartments, as well as a grocery store and retail center housing a few local businesses, walking trail, lake, and dog park. The community is designed to promote sustainable living, offering residents secure indoor bike parking and direct access to the nearby public beach via a paved bike trail.
County Prestress & Precast manufactured and installed six four-stop elevator shafts for this project. Precast elevator shafts not only offer unmatched efficiency but also safety benefits. They earn fire ratings of up to three hours and resist natural and manmade disasters. These safety advantages are important considerations for multi-family structures and offer tenants more peace of mind.
Project Highlights:
Precast concrete shafts are a reliable solution for elevator shafts for multifamily buildings. These monolithic precast boxes represent a technological upgrade from traditional construction methods, requiring significantly less labor to erect. This in turn helps to shorten construction schedules. For this project, two four-story shafts were installed each day. Instead of having to wait an average of four weeks for a single shaft to be completed with traditional methods, the contractors were able to begin framing much sooner.
