As part of BNSF’s expansion to ship goods to more communities, they recently added a parking and overpass expansion to Cicero Yard in Berwyn, Illinois. The project is located in a congested area frequented by both vehicle and railway traffic.
To construct the addition, project leaders specified six County Prestress & Precast’s Concrete Bridge Girders, each 160 feet long. Prestressed beams were chosen for their ability to meet demanding construction schedules as well as their low maintenance and long life cycle.
Project leaders appreciated the minimal disruptions to BNSF Railway operations because of the route calculations and skilled deliveries performed by County Prestress & Precast’s Dispatchers and Truck Drivers.
