Durable Precast Systems for a Multi-Use Municipal Facility

The City of Yorkville is constructing a 105,400 SF municipal facility to support its public works and parks department operations. Designed to accommodate a fleet garage, workshops, a wash bay, maintenance shops, locker rooms, and administrative offices, the building required a structural system to meet demanding performance and scheduling needs. County Prestress & Precast provided a complete precast concrete solution tailored for municipal construction projects.

County Prestress & Precast designed, manufactured, transported, and installed approximately 264 insulated wall panels totaling 77,294 SF and 165 hollowcore plank pieces for the mezzanine and roof areas. Insulated wall panels and hollowcore plank flooring were specified for this project to meet structural and thermal performance requirements. The 10-inch thick insulated wall panels feature a steel form exterior finish for field painting and a smooth hard trowel interior finish, eliminating the need for additional interior treatments. Hollowcore plank flooring in 8 and 10-inch thicknesses was selected for its ability to span long distances and support heavy loads, making it ideal for high-traffic municipal environments.

Prestressed precast concrete was specified for its structural integrity, energy efficiency, and clean finish—key benefits for public infrastructure projects. County Prestress & Precast coordinated transportation and installation to align with the contractor’s schedule, with erection beginning August 4, 2025. The process will take 3–4 weeks, followed by caulking and field finishing.
