Solution: Prestressed concrete bridge girders were specified to replace an aging I-94 bridge on a tight schedule.
Rapid Manufacturing and Delivery for Critical Bridge Work
The I-94 County NN Bridge project required a rapid manufacturing and delivery plan to align with WisDOT’s tight schedule for replacing two end-of-life I-94 structures. County Prestress & Precast produced 16 prestressed bridge girders using two facilities to maximize output and meet the accelerated timeline. Eight girders were manufactured in Roberts, Wisconsin (each 145 feet long and approximately 146,000 pounds), and the remaining eight were produced in Janesville, Wisconsin (each 129 feet long and approximately 130,000 pounds).
Precision fabrication and efficient logistics kept the replacement work on track. Skilled drivers and dispatchers coordinated complex deliveries while the Wisconsin State Highway Patrol briefly closed the exit ramp to ensure safe passage. Through close collaboration with WisDOT and field personnel, all girders were delivered and installed within one month to support the project's accelerated schedule.
This project demonstrates how scalable production capacity and experienced transportation teams can overcome site constraints and strict timelines. By leveraging two manufacturing locations and proactive delivery planning, County Prestress & Precast helped restore critical interstate crossings with minimal disruption to motorists and regional traffic flow.
