Builder Chooses Precast Elevator Shafts for Speed and Reliability

Aug 2, 2023

LandSouth Construction is a builder known for its tradition of excellence and innovation in the field of multifamily construction. When company leaders planned a new market-rate apartment complex in Pensacola, Florida, they specified precast concrete elevator shafts manufactured by County Prestress & Precast for their dependability and speed of construction.

Scheduled to open in 2024, Madison Shores is a 272-unit garden-style apartment development with six four-story buildings. Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness pool, dog park, and designated working areas.

Precast elevator shafts help accelerate construction timelines by allowing framing to begin weeks earlier than would be possible with traditional building materials. Stair installers and tradesmen, inspectors, and first responders also gain immediate, safe access to the construction site. Precast elevator shafts offer safety benefits during construction and over their extended service life that add to the overall value of a building and can lower insurance costs. Precast concrete resists water damage, withstands strong winds, and is made from non-combustible materials.

Manufactured to meet exacting specifications, County Prestress & Precast’s elevator shafts integrate installation safety platforms directly into the hoist-way. Shafts are delivered on-site ready for installation and are compatible with any mid-rise building design. For this project, County Prestress & Precast installed six precast elevator shafts in two mobilizations.
