Partnering with Alternatives, Inc. to Eradicate Domestic and Sexual Violence

Aug 7, 2025

In 1978, seven women came together to form Alternatives, Inc., a non-profit organization working to eradicate domestic and sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention. The agency serves Central Indiana’s Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Madison, Marion, and Tipton counties.

The County Materials Family of Companies partners with Alternatives, Inc. to offer a variety of services to support domestic and sexual abuse survivors, including crisis response, housing, transportation, food assistance, and aftercare. The organization operates seven emergency shelter units, eighteen transitional housing units, and ten rapid rehousing units to sustain survivors during crisis and throughout the rebuilding of their lives. Additionally, Alternatives, Inc. provides specialized programming for children to support academic success and the development of healthy relationships and life skills to break the intergenerational cycle of violence.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, the County Materials Family of Companies supports worthy organizations like Alternatives, Inc. We provide support in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
