County Prestress & Precast’s Responsive Fleet Team Prioritizes Customer Service

Jul 30, 2024

As many communities across the Midwest look to replace aging bridges, project leaders are turning to prestressed bridge girders because of their ability to accelerate project timelines. Manufactured to specification, the girders arrive on site ready to install and can help to minimize the impact to the surrounding environment. Because the girders often measure more than 100 feet long, delivering them to job sites requires careful planning and coordination.

Skilled Drivers

County Prestress & Precast's skilled team of dispatchers and truck drivers are prepared to adapt to challenging job sites and staging areas, prioritizing safety and customer service. Our dispatch team coordinates carefully with project leaders and local law enforcement to plan a route that will minimize traffic disruptions and ensure safe transportation of the girders, and our drivers are prepared to navigate any route, no matter what driving maneuvers are required.

Problem Solving in Plum City

Delivering girders for a bridge replacement project in Plum City, Wisconsin, required impeccable coordination and attention to detail to minimize traffic disruptions. The project required 136-foot long girders, an oversize load which requires special delivery considerations. In this case, the only way to get through an unavoidable traffic light island along the route was to drive through in the wrong direction, due to the extreme length of the girders.

Our heavy-haul drivers, dispatch team, and law enforcement from Ellsworth, Wisconsin, worked together to coordinate the safe transportation of five oversized girders from Roberts, Wisconsin, 50 miles south to Plum City.

Rapid Service on Rice Street

When the Minnesota Department of Transportation decided to reconstruct the I-694 interchange at Rice Street, project leaders chose prestressed bridge girders manufactured by County Prestress & Precast to meet the project’s aggressive design and timeline demands. To minimize the amount of time that the high traffic interchange had to be closed, County Prestress & Precast delivered 20 prestressed girders in a 24-period to accelerate the project.

Our responsive truck drivers have earned the trust of transportation agencies and municipalities across the Midwest due to their dedication to excellent customer service. To learn more about our fleet services, contact a member of our Customer Service Team at (708) 562-7700.
