Grace Place Promotes Self-Sufficiency With Support of County Prestress

Jun 22, 2022

Salvation Army Grace Place Shelter empowers families and individuals in the St. Croix River Valley to become self sufficient through education and programs that stabilize their housing and income. Residents are assessed when they begin their 30-90-day stay at the shelter to fill immediate needs and plan for long-term success. They work with a case manager and have access to classes on budgeting, wellness, and resume-writing. Children and adults can receive tutoring and sign up for family activities.

Grace Place also offers emergency services, such as housing, transportation, and rent and utility assistance. Each year, close to 400 people are housed at Grace Place. Grace Place is not just a shelter, it is a program that impacts and changes lives.

Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Prestress supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
