County Prestress & Precast Partners With YWCA to Support Survivors

Oct 20, 2021

The YWCA of Rock County is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The organization offers a variety of life-saving services for survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence within the Janesville, WI community.

The CARE House, through the YWCA provides a safe place for abused children to be interviewed by law enforcement and other agencies, preventing them from having to enter court. As the only child advocacy center in Rock County, the CARE House provides a vital service to the community.

The YWCA also offers the Alternatives to Violence Shelter. The shelter is available to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and provides them a place to stay, food, clothing, and personal care items. Clients also receive support from staff members to assist them through their situations.

Sarah came to the Alternatives to Violence Shelter after fleeing a violent ten-year relationship. Sarah and her five children were accepted into the Transitions for Women Program and lived in a transitional living apartment for one year. During her time at Transitions for Women, Sarah secured employment and started her associate degree in Early Childhood Development at a local college. Currently, she is living independently, and attending her last semester of school. She was recently awarded Student Worker of the Year and accepted the award with her son in attendance.

County Prestress, through the Sonnentag Foundation, supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four services areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Military Personnel and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
