County Prestress & Precast Partners with YWCA Rock County to Empower Women

May 12, 2021

Dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, the YWCA of Rock County transforms lives and communities through education and action to empower women and dismantle racism. The YWCA understands it takes a community’s support to help individuals rebuild self-confidence, regain self-respect, and become role models. With the help of partnering organizations and donors, the organization provides childcare, Alternatives to Violence programing, Transitions programing, CARE House shelter space, and racial justice and immigrant outreach.

Alternatives to Violence is a program that supports domestic violence survivors in crisis by offering shelter and case management services. The program additionally provides food, linens, clothing, and personal care items to clients residing at the shelter. This program is vital to the Rock County community, as it helps survivors and their children safely return to independence with access to resources and the support to utilize them.

The YWCA of Rock County also operates a 24-hour crisis hotline that helps nearly 95 women and 160 children flee abusive households each year.

County Prestress, through the Sonnentag Foundation, provides the YWCA the resources they need to continue to save lives in Rock County. Each year, the Sonnentag Foundation supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Military Personnel and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Youth Mentoring and Skills Building.
