County Prestress & Precast: Dispatchers & Drivers Meet Delivery Challanges

Aug 23, 2022

County Prestress & Precasts Prestressed Bridge Girders are a resilient, high-performance material. Prestressed girders accelerate project timelines because they are manufactured to specification and arrive on-site ready to install.

But girders often measure more than 100 feet long and getting them to jobsites requires careful planning and coordination. County Prestress & Precasts experienced dispatchers and drivers have a proven record of accommodating any delivery challenge.

Minimizing Traffic Closures

County Prestress & Precasts Prestressed Bridge Girders were selected to replace aging steel girders as part of the I-270 North Project in Missouri. County Materials’ delivery team worked closely with project leaders to manufacture and deliver eight 157-foot-long prestressed bridge girders for nighttime installation to minimize the impact of road closures.

Transporting Oversized Loads

For another replacement project, the Mile-Long Bridge southwest of Chicago, which spans multiple railroads, water sources, and local roads, involved extensive planning and coordination to prevent disruption to the business operations below the bridge. Each girder required private and state patrol escorts to maintain safe travel for the heavy haul drivers and those around them. Working with four agencies to permit the oversized loads, County Prestress & Precast manufactured and delivered 523 bridge girders to the project site.
