In Galesburg, Illinois, a three-track railroad underpass bridge was constructed to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion. Project leaders specified steel girders, precast pier caps, and prestressed concrete fascia girders. County Prestress & Precast used custom forms to manufacture 12 precast pier caps and six prestressed fascia girders. To enhance the aesthetic appeal of the bridge and celebrate the local community, the pier caps were cast with a natural stone texture and a message across the center girder that reads, “Welcome to Galesburg.”
