Responsive Fleet Services Meet Infrastructure Project Needs

County Prestress & Precast’s Prestressed Concrete Bridge Girders are a resilient, high-performance solution. Prestressed girders accelerate project timelines because they are manufactured to specification and arrive on site ready to install.

But girders often measure more than 100 feet long and getting them to jobsites presents unique challenges. County Prestress & Precast’s experienced team of dispatchers and truck drivers demonstrates the careful planning and coordination required for timely and safe product deliveries.

Overcoming Site Challenges

Our truck drivers can adapt to challenging job sites and staging areas. For a new bridge on County Highway V in Eau Claire County, WI, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Lunda Construction selected County Materials, relying on our fleet to deliver prestressed bridge girders to a site with limited accessibility. The highway crosses Bridge Creek at a scenic spot, just below a dam with a working stone water wheel. The unique situation required County Prestress & Precast drivers to back a half mile to the site before four 121-foot girders were transferred to a beam launcher and backed up until they could be set in place.

Minimizing Traffic Closures

Prestressed bridge girders offer ease and speed of installation, mitigating the costly impact of road closures and delays. To improve the congested traffic conditions at the Rice Street and I-694 interchange, the Minnesota Department of Transportation decided to reconstruct the existing bridge and add two additional structures for entrance and exit ramps. Prestressed bridge girders manufactured by County Prestress & Precast became the ideal choice to meet the project’s aggressive design and timeline demands.

Due to the interchange’s high daily traffic, closing the area for long periods of construction was not an option. Instead, County Prestress & Precast delivered 20 MN45 prestressed girders in a 24-period to accelerate the project. The interchange was reconstructed to meet the area’s capacity needs with minimal road closures and impact on residents and local businesses.
