Salvation Army Grace Place began as a temporary home for families needing emergency shelter in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. In 2013, the community experienced an increased demand for those needing shelter, prompting the organization to expand. Today, Grace Place offers a safe environment where individuals can stay for 30 to 90 days while working to overcome challenges.
With support from the County Materials Family of Companies, Grace Place provides programs that promote self-sufficiency and stability. Residents receive case management tailored to their specific needs, along with access to resources and educational opportunities, such as nutrition and housing readiness classes, tutoring, and family meals.
“If I felt overwhelmed, she was there to listen,” said Gail, reflecting on her experience with her case manager. After 4 years of homelessness, Gail worked with a case manager at Grace Place and achieved permanent housing.
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, the County Materials Family of Companies supports organizations like Grace Place in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
