Insulated Wall Panels Enhance Indoor Air Quality

Written by Admin | Oct 4, 2023

Insulated Wall Panels offer a variety of benefits, including air quality
enhancement.

Manufactured for Quality

Clean air quality is achieved through condensation control and mold prevention, which are both advantages of ISWs.

Condensation Control

Insulated wall panels are manufactured with a layer of insulation “sandwiched” between two layers of prestressed concrete. The durable exterior and interior concrete layers serve as a primary air barrier and vapor retarder. The use of closed-cell foam installation in prestressed wall panels ensures the primary vapor retarder cannot reach temperatures at which condensation occurs.

Panelized walls also reduce the number of joints within a structure, minimizing entrances for moisture penetration.

Mold Prevention

Concrete is manufactured with organic raw materials, making it resistant to mold growth. Additionally, because the foam installation in prestressed wall panels prevents condensation, mold is prevented from growing.

In addition to mold prevention, concrete offers low volatile organic compounds emittance, preventing off-gassing and its associated health risks.

Advantages and Applications

The benefits of maintaining indoor air quality are clear, making insulated wall panels the preferred choice for maintaining sanitary and controlled production environments. Popular insulated wall panel applications include warehouses, sports centers, schools, shopping centers, hospitals, and more.

Prestressed wall panels, unlike alternative building envelope materials, can eliminate the need for additional systems to purify air, alleviating construction and maintenance costs.
