Precast Elevator Shafts Speed Up Apartment Complex Construction

Marlowe at Gandy is 425-unit apartment complex in the Gateway area of St. Petersburg, Florida. The Gateway area is a growing community, recently rezoned for commercial use and the development of apartments. This multifamily project is a garden-style development with nine multistory residential buildings and several multi-bay parking garages. The buildings are clustered around a courtyard, two pools, a resident clubhouse, and open green space. Project leaders relied on County Prestress & Precast to manufacture, deliver, and install four elevator shafts to meet the demands this project in a growing industrial location.

The complex’s nine buildings are either three or four stories tall and reach a maximum height of 60 feet. The project’s size presented challenges, but County Prestress & Precast’s Elevator Shafts offered a speed and ease of construction that accelerated the project schedule and eliminated additional labor costs. Precast components are safer to install than conventional building materials and offer many benefits, including high fire ratings which qualify buildings for lower insurance rates.

County Prestress & Precast’s Elevator Shafts maximized time and cost savings for this large-scale project and aided in the growth of the Gateway community.
