Creating Pathways Out of Poverty with Community Action

Written by Admin | Feb 14, 2024

Community Action, Inc. has been fighting poverty in Rock and Walworth Counties since 1965. County Prestress & Precast supports their mission to provide innovative programs and strong community partnerships to eliminate barriers and establish clear pathways to economic self-reliance. Founded on the core values of dignity, collaboration, and accountability, Community Action operates entirely through local leadership and strives to meet the specific poverty needs of their community. The organization’s programs include childcare, housing, training and education, health services, and outreach resources.

One Community Action program supported by County Prestress & Precast is the Community Kids Learning Center. This program provides students with professional educators and a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters life-long learning. Hours are structured to accommodate the schedules of working parents. In 2023, more than 150 children participated in the Learning Center.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Prestress & Precast supports organizations in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Veteran and Service Member Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
