An aging bridge structure, spanning the Plover River near Hatley, WI, prompted replacement as it neared the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) proceeded with the project as part of its Local Bridge Program, in which projects are funded with 80 percent state and 20 percent local match. Prestressed concrete bridge girders, manufactured by County Prestress & Precast, were specified for their low life cycle costs. The girders’ proven resistance to inclement weather and heavy wear makes them a viable solution for projects demanding resilience and longevity.
