Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, dedicated to helping young people thrive. Since 1904, BBBS has empowered youth to reach their full potential through meaningful one-to-one connections with caring adult mentors. These relationships build confidence, encourage goal-setting, and guide children and teens toward a brighter future.
Research from the longitudinal economic study "The Long-Term Impacts of Mentors: Evidence from Experimental and Administrative Data" verifies that mentoring has measurable economic benefits. The study found that young people involved in BBBS programs are more likely to succeed academically and make positive life choices. Specifically, Littles are 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 52% less likely to skip school, and 20% more likely to enroll in college.
