Benefits of Precast Elevator and Stair Shafts in Multifamily Builds

Written by Admin | Feb 12, 2024

Precast concrete shafts are a reliable solution for elevator and stair shafts for multifamily buildings. These monolithic precast boxes represent a technological upgrade from traditional construction methods, requiring significantly less labor to erect.

The shafts are manufactured offsite, while the construction site is being prepared. This leads to a significantly shorter construction schedule compared to traditional construction methods. Two four-story shafts can be installed in one day, as compared to an average of four weeks for a single traditional elevator shaft and five weeks for traditional stair shafts.

Using GEN 9 precast shafts manufactured by County Prestress and Precast can help keep a multifamily construction project on schedule. Precast shafts can be installed up to six stories tall and require fewer inspections during installation. Temporary scaffolding and ladders are no longer needed, eliminating a hazard from the jobsite. See how precast elevator shafts were used in the Azure project: Azure gallery.
